Today, various regions in both western and southern India are under a heavy rain alert. Meanwhile, Delhi is also expected to experience cloudy skies and some rainfall.
Across several hilly and plain areas of the country, heavy rainfall is being reported. However, some regions are still experiencing light rain accompanied by humidity, making the heat feel relentless. On July 16, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, as well as other areas in western and southern India. In contrast, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and nearby areas are likely to witness light rain.
According to the IMD, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected today in Gujarat, Maharashtra weather, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, and Kerala. Additionally, a very heavy rain alert has been issued for certain locations within these regions. This intense weather pattern is due to the strong monsoon currents that have been active in these areas, bringing in substantial moisture from the Arabian Sea.
The IMD predicts generally cloudy skies with light rain in the capital today, Tuesday, July 16. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 36°C and 25°C, respectively. Yesterday, Delhi saw varied rainfall, with some areas experiencing light showers and others receiving heavy downpours. Despite this, the maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 35.2°C. This weather trend indicates that while there is relief from the intense heat, the overall temperature remains relatively high for this season.
Weekly Weather in Delhi: According to the IMD forecast, cloudy skies are expected to persist in Delhi throughout the week. The currently light rain might intensify to moderate to heavy rainfall by July 21. However, no significant change in temperature is anticipated soon. This means that while residents can expect more rain, the overall climate will remain warm, with humidity levels possibly rising due to the increased precipitation. The city’s infrastructure and drainage systems are likely to be tested if heavy rains continue, and residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts.
