New Delhi, June 5 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a weather update for today, indicating the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms in various parts of the country.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu Weather, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, and parts of Karnataka.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, and strong winds with speeds of 50-60 km/h are likely in some parts of Uttarakhand. Additionally, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 km/h are expected in isolated places in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.
Monsoon Forecast for the Coming Days: The IMD reports favorable conditions for the further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon over the next three days into the central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka, southern Maharashtra, parts of Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, southern Chhattisgarh and Odisha, and additional parts of the West-central and Northwest Bay of Bengal.
Light Rain with Thunderstorms: Light to very light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) is likely in isolated places in Punjab, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh from June 5-7, East Uttar Pradesh on June 5, and Rajasthan from June 5-8.
