Despite the official withdrawal of the monsoon, rains continue to lash various parts of Madhya Pradesh. On Sunday, heavy rains drenched Bhopal, Ujjain, and 12 other districts, with Shajapur recording the highest rainfall of 5 inches. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), similar weather is expected today, Monday, with possible showers in some districts of the Indore and Ujjain divisions.
The IMD reports that a low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea has activated the monsoon trough, allowing southwest winds to bring moisture into the region. As a result, the western parts of the state are expected to experience rainfall and cloudy conditions for the next 24 hours.
The weather department has forecast thunderstorms and rainfall for the districts of Indore, Ujjain weather, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Dhar, Alirajpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Burhanpur, Dewas, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, and Betul on Monday. Meanwhile, districts like Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur may see clear skies with sunshine.
In Bhopal, there is a possibility of rain and lightning strikes today. Forecasts suggest that this rainy spell will continue until October 15. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 32°C, while the minimum may drop to approximately 22°C.
On Sunday, several districts, including Bhopal and Ujjain, witnessed intense monsoon activity. Shajapur recorded 5 inches of rainfall in just three hours. Betul saw 2.8 inches, Ujjain received nearly 2 inches, and Bhopal recorded half an inch of rain. Other districts, such as Narmadapuram, Shivpuri, Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Mandla, and Narsinghpur, also received rainfall.
Shajapur, the downpour was so heavy that it caused midday darkness, forcing vehicle drivers to turn on their headlights. Similarly, heavy rainfall in Chhindwara led to waterlogging in many areas during the afternoon.
