The country is currently experiencing intermittent rainfall due to a slowdown in the monsoon's pace. In the coming days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall across several regions. According to IMD, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall, while Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal may see light to moderate showers throughout the week. Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are expected to see isolated to scattered light to moderate rain over the next five days, with rainfall intensity increasing and becoming more widespread in the following two days.
Odisha is forecasted to experience heavy rainfall from September 22 to 24, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to receive heavy showers from September 22 to 26. Additionally, Arunachal Pradesh weather, Assam, and Meghalaya are forecasted to receive heavy rain from September 23 to 26, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to experience heavy downpours on September 26.
As rainfall has slowed down in certain parts of the country, regions like South India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are experiencing hot and humid weather, which is expected to persist on September 21. Northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are also likely to experience hot and humid conditions from September 21 to 22.
The IMD has also predicted above-normal temperatures across Northeast India for the next three days, contributing to the rise in humidity and heat in the region. However, these conditions are expected to ease after two to three days.
