High-Tech Gaushala

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the foundation stone ceremony of a high-tech gaushala with a capacity to house 10,000 cows in Barkhedi Dob, Bhopal, on November 23 at 10 a.m. Spanning approximately 25 acres, this state-of-the-art facility will include modern amenities for cattle care and a fully equipped medical ward for their treatment. Continuous monitoring will be ensured through CCTV surveillance.

Construction in Three Phases with a Budget of ₹15 Crore:

The gaushala will be constructed at a cost of ₹15 crore by the Rural Engineering Services department. Its operations will be managed by the Municipal Corporation, with the Municipal Corporation and Animal Husbandry Department serving as the nodal agencies. The project will be financed under the Smart City Project and the District Panchayat. The construction will be completed in three phases, with the first phase accommodating 2,000 cattle.

Advanced Facilities:

The gaushala will feature conveyor belts to deliver fodder, green grass, and cattle feed efficiently. Additionally, facilities will be established for producing organic fertilizers and other materials from cow dung and urine. A dedicated medical ward will also be available for treating injured or sick cows rescued from streets.

Enhancing Income through Cattle Rearing:

The Madhya Pradesh government has launched various initiatives to boost the income of cattle farmers. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized the cultural significance of cattle, stating, “Homes with cows are Gokul, and those who rear them are Gopal.” He announced a special scheme where cattle farmers will receive five heifers, retain two for personal use, and sell the remaining three to the government. This initiative aims to enhance milk production and increase farmers’ earnings.

Freedom from Kanji Houses: The Chief Minister further stated that the government is committed to providing shelter and care for abandoned and non-milking cows by constructing gaushalas in urban areas. The state has also decided to close down animal detention centers like Kanji Houses and Khedas. The high-tech gaushala in Bhopal, with its capacity to accommodate 10,000 cows, is a significant step in this direction.
