Good news for farmers in and around Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. The Agriculture Department will distribute 330 quintals of wheat seeds. These seeds will be distributed to farmers in Kullu, Manali, Banjar, and Anni sub-districts at a rate of Rs 34 per kilogram.
What's special is that farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs 15 on wheat seeds. The price of wheat seeds is Rs 49 per kilogram, and there has been no increase in the price this year. According to a report by Amar Ujala, the Agriculture Department has delivered the wheat seed consignment to extension centers. It's worth noting that farmers use wheat for fodder, and it is usually available in March and April. Farmers plant it in their fields and gardens, although its demand is relatively low compared to wheat.
In Kullu district, farmers have shown a growing interest in cash crops. Farmers are planting vegetables in their fields and gardens to strengthen their financial situation. Nevertheless, some farmers continue to cultivate wheat in their fields. In this regard, Assistant Director of the Agriculture Department, Panveer Thakur, mentioned that the department has delivered a consignment of wheat seeds to agriculture extension centers. It will be made available to farmers at the specified price.
