The Bihar government has urged farmers to register on the official portal to sell their wheat crop at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). In Bihar, the total area for rabi crops is approximately 4 million hectares, with 2.6 million hectares dedicated to wheat cultivation, accounting for over 50% of the rabi area. Through the MSP program, farmers can benefit from assured pricing for their wheat harvest.
This year, the government has increased the MSP for wheat by ₹150, setting the price at ₹2,425 per quintal for the 2025-26 rabi season. Farmers are encouraged to cultivate more wheat to maximize their earnings under the MSP and sell their produce at the assured rate.
By registering on the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) portal, farmers can sell wheat at the MSP rate of ₹2,425 per quintal at the nearest government procurement center. Payment will be directly credited to their bank account within 48 hours of the sale. The Bihar government will establish ample procurement centers in every district, with primary agriculture cooperative societies and trade boards creating buying centers at the panchayat and block levels as well.
The entire purchase process is online, and both landowning farmers and tenant farmers can register on the DBT portal. Those who have already registered do not need to re-register. They can directly apply on the Cooperative Department’s portal.
Essential Information for Registration: To register for wheat sales on the DBT portal, farmers need to provide the following three details.
These details are necessary to complete the registration, allowing farmers to sell wheat at the government rate. The government urges farmers to sell as much wheat as possible at the MSP to take full advantage of this support system.
