IFFCO World Cooperative Conference will be held in India

For the first time in its history, IFFCO will hold its General Assembly and Global Cooperative Conference in India, marking a significant milestone for the country's growing cooperative sector. IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani announced that the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), in collaboration with 17 other ICA member organizations, will host this event from November 25 to 30, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This grand cooperative event will be a historic achievement for the Indian cooperative sector.

India Emerges as a Global Leader in the Cooperative Movement:

Sanghani stated that under the leadership of Amit Shah, the ministry has made several key decisions that have established India's cooperative movement as a leading force on the global stage. Whether it’s tax reforms, creating a national database for Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), or computerizing PACS, all these significant reforms have been implemented under Shah’s leadership. The theme of the conference, "Cooperation: The Door to Prosperity for All," aims to enhance the global recognition of Indian cooperatives.

ICA Conference to Feature Representatives from Over 100 Countries:

During the event, the official announcement of the United Nations International Year of Cooperation 2025 will also take place. The conference will see participation from the Prime Minister of Bhutan, the President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC), the President of the International Cooperative Alliance, the Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, and representatives from over 100 countries. The ICA Global Conference aims to make cooperative institutions more people-centric and purpose-driven, while also inspiring global collaboration.

Goal of Planting 10,10,000 Peepal Trees at the ICA Conference:

The program will focus on four main sub-themes: building policies and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, reaffirming cooperative identity, nurturing purposeful leadership for prosperity, and building the future for prosperity in the 21st century. It is estimated that around 4,000 trees will need to be planted to offset the carbon emissions generated by the conference. Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has set a target of planting 10,000 Peepal trees, and the plantation drive has already commenced. The event will be entirely vegetarian and alcohol-free.
