Over the next five days, a relentless heatwave is set to scorch regions stretching from Bihar to West Bengal, exacerbating concerns over sweltering temperatures and searing heat.
According to the latest updates from the Meteorological Department, the onslaught of heat is being felt in all directions. As a result, many cities are grappling with scorching temperatures and the discomfort of heatwave conditions. Today, the Meteorological Department issued fresh forecasts indicating that Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal are likely to experience consecutive days of intense heatwave conditions until April 26.
These areas, including Patna, Chapra, Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, and Bhagalpur, temperatures are expected to soar, reaching around 40 to 43 degrees Celsius from April 23 to April 26.
Similarly, in West Bengal, including the capital city of Kolkata, as well as Asansol, Ashoknagar, Sundarbans, and Murshidabad, severe heatwave conditions are anticipated during the same period.
Today, April 23, the states of Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala are also under the grip of a heatwave, as per the weather today.
Meanwhile, sudden increases in nighttime temperatures are expected in several regions of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. These states may also witness a rise in temperatures over the next 4-5 days, along with the possibility of heatwaves. According to the Meteorological Department, light rainfall was observed in several areas of Madhya Pradesh yesterday. As a result, the region experienced increased humidity and moisture in the atmosphere starting from last night.
