Most parts of Punjab experienced temperatures between 44 and 46 °C, while many parts of Vidarbha saw temperatures between 44 and 46 °C. In parts of Gujarat, temperatures were between 40 and 44 °C.

These temperatures were 4-6°C higher than normal in many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. In parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, and in isolated parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Saurashtra, and Kutch, temperatures were 2-3°C above normal.

Potential temperature changes:

  1. North and Central India: No significant change in temperature is expected for the next 2 days, but a drop of 2-3 °C is likely thereafter.
  2. Eastern India: Temperatures may rise by 3-5 °C over the next 3 days, with no significant change expected thereafter.
  3. Gujarat: A drop of 2–3 °C in temperature is likely over the next 5 days.
  4. Maharashtra: Temperatures will rise by 2-3°C over the next 48 hours, with no significant change thereafter.
  5. Rest of the Country: No significant change in temperature is expected in other parts.

Heatwave, Warm Night, and Hot and Humid Weather Warning for the Next 5 Days:
 Get ready with your bed sheets, as we need to brace ourselves for intense summer conditions over the next 5 days. Severe heatwave conditions are expected in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Additionally, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh may experience heatwave conditions today, May 29. However, some relief is expected thereafter.

  1. Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh: Severe heatwave conditions are expected in these regions on May 29. Warm night conditions will prevail in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi from May 30 to June 1, 2024. Heatwave conditions are likely to subside in northwest and central India from May 30 onward.
  2. Bihar, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha: These regions will also experience heatwave conditions, and residents need to remain cautious. Heatwave conditions are expected in Jharkhand from May 29–31 and in Odisha from May 29–30, 2024.
