Marathwada to Experience Below-Average Rainfall Until September 7th, Agricultural University Issues Advisory, Farmers Please Take Note During August 30th to September 5th, 2023, Marathwada is likely to experience below-average maximum and minimum temperatures along with below-average rainfall. In light of this, the Special Committee of the Rural Agriculture Weather Service Plan at Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, has recommended agricultural advice based on the agricultural weather.
Crop Management:
In case of water scarcity in crops such as soybean, kharif sorghum, pearl millet, sugarcane, and turmeric for more than ten days, it is advisable to apply 1% (100 grams per 10 liters) of potassium nitrate (13:00:45). If there is a shortage of water due to which the leaves are drying up, the crop should be irrigated using the furrow method as per availability. During the monsoon, there is a likelihood of pest infestation in soybean crops. For pest management in soybean crops, chlorantraniliprole 18.5% 60 ml per acre or thiamethoxam 12.6% + lambda-cyhalothrin 9.5% (mixed insecticide) 50 ml per acre should be used.
If sugarcane and turmeric crops are under water stress, they should be irrigated using a drip irrigation system as per availability. If sugarcane crops are affected by internode-boring insects, for management, chlorpyrifos 20% 25 ml or chlorantraniliprole 18.5% 4 ml per 10 liters of water should be mixed and applied.
