In Telangana, during the current Kharif season, crops have been cultivated on approximately 1.38 crore acres of land, including 12 lakh acres for horticultural crops. The government hopes that the Rabi season will see cultivation on approximately 75 to 80 lakh acres.

Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy conducted a review of the Kharif crop situation and discussed arrangements for the Rabi season with senior officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department in Hyderabad. He mentioned that a record 65 lakh acres of land has been used for rice cultivation during this Kharif season. Rice cultivation has been particularly significant in the districts of Nagarkurnool, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Mahbubnagar, and Rangareddy.

Notably, Nagarkurnool district alone witnessed rice cultivation on 24,000 acres. Minister Reddy also stated that horticultural crops have been cultivated on 12 lakh acres, including 1.93 lakh acres of oil palm.

Minister Reddy encouraged officials to start preparations for the upcoming Rabi season. He mentioned that in the previous Rabi season, crops were cultivated on 74 lakh acres, and there is an expectation of 75 to 80 lakh acres for the upcoming Rabi season. He emphasized that the requirement for all fertilizers, including 9.8 lakh tons of urea, for Rabi crops has been estimated at 18.64 lakh tons.
