A two-day district-level agricultural fair was inaugurated at J.M.D. Palace, Trimurti Nagar, Dhar, under the M.P. State Millets Mission Scheme, in the presence of District Panchayat President Shri Sardar Singh Meda and Agriculture Standing Committee Chairman Shri Ashok Dawar.
During the inauguration, Shri Meda provided insights into various welfare schemes introduced by the state government for farmers' benefit. He emphasized that these initiatives have significantly supported farmers in the district. Shri Dawar appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department in organizing the fair and encouraged farmers to adopt advanced agricultural techniques shared by experts to enhance crop production.
Deputy Director of Agriculture, Shri Gyan Singh Mohaniya, highlighted the importance of expanding millet cultivation (including Kodo, Kutki, Sawa, Jowar, Bajra, and Ragi) and increasing their productivity. He also discussed modern production techniques, value addition, processing, and marketing strategies. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of integrating farmers, processors, young entrepreneurs, and FPOs to boost the millet industry.
Scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Agricultural Science Centers) in Dhar and Manawar provided detailed information on millet farming, from sowing to harvesting and processing. Additionally, they discussed the nutritional and health benefits of millet-based food products. Special sessions were held on soil fertility, nutrient management, and soil testing. Progressive farmers shared their experiences and emphasized the significance of adopting modern agricultural practices.
Participation of Various Agricultural Departments in the Exhibition: A total of 29 agricultural exhibitions were organized, featuring stalls from various government agricultural departments, agricultural engineering, the National Livelihood Mission, Farmer Producer Organizations, fertilizer and pesticide companies, NGOs, Integrated Pest Management, and bio-agricultural input products. Farmers and representatives explored these stalls to gain insights into advanced agricultural techniques.
Closing Ceremony Details: The two-day agricultural fair will conclude on March 30, 2025, in the presence of Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Government of India, Smt. Savitri Thakur. More than 800 farmers, along with officials from various departments, will attend the event.
