India Aims to Achieve One-Third of Global Milk Production by 2030, National Dairy Development Board

Minaesh Shah, the Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), has revealed India's ambition to contribute one-third of the global milk production by 2030, with a specific focus on nutrition, reproductive health, and key focal areas to attain this objective. Currently, India holds a 24 percent share, or one-fourth, of the total global milk production, contributing 4-5 percent to our overall domestic production. Our strategy entails elevating our share to 30 percent, or one-third, of global milk production.

Shah underscores the critical importance of enhancing animal productivity to accomplish this goal. Despite being the largest milk producer, India livestock productivity lags behind that of developed countries.
