Heatwave Warning in India, IMD Predicts Heat Spell

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has shared weather information and forecasts for different regions of India for April 6.
Thunderstorms and Lightning Forecast:
- There a potential for thunderstorms, coupled with lightning and strong winds (reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph), in select areas across the Northern Himalayas, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya.
- Lightning and gusty winds (reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph) are possible at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
- Cloudy skies with lightning are expected at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Eastern Rajasthan, and Kerala & Mahe.
Heavy Rainfall and Snowfall:
- Heavy to very heavy rain or snowfall may occur in scattered locations across Arunachal Pradesh.
- Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya.
Warm Nights and Heatwave Conditions:
- Warm nights are anticipated in isolated pockets over Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Marathwada, and North Interior Karnataka.
- Heatwave conditions are likely at isolated places over Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Vidarbha, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam.
Hot and Humid Weather: Hot and humid weather is expected over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.
Past 24 Hours Weather Pattern:
- Rainfall occurred at few places over Lakshadweep, and isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and various regions of North India.
- Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in some areas of Odisha, and heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of West Bengal.
Maximum Temperature Departures: Maximum temperatures were notably higher than usual (by 3.1°C to 5.0°C) in several locations across West Bengal, Odisha, and Rayalaseema. Additionally, isolated areas in Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch, Konkan & Goa, Telangana, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, also experienced above-average temperatures.
