Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI-Pusa) Delhi Developed New Wheat Variety

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI-Pusa) in Delhi has developed a new variety of wheat, which has been officially notified. This means that farmers will have access to this new seed. This seed will be particularly resistant to viruses and also promise a bumper yield.

Distribution to Farmers:

To ensure farmers have access to the seed, IARI is signing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with select companies. Through these companies, farmers will easily obtain this new seed.

Key Features of the Seed:

1. Developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, Delhi, the HD 3386 seed is an excellent variety for irrigated and timely sowing in the northwest plains.
2. This seed will be available to farmers for the first time from October onwards, directly from the IARI Institute in Delhi.
3. The process for MOU will commence soon, and a list of vendors will also be released. This will enable farmers to procure seeds from vendors in their vicinity.
4. This new seed will play a crucial role in revolutionizing wheat production and increasing farmers' income.
