India’s centuries-old traditional knowledge, preserved in ancient manuscripts and oral traditions, continues to hold significance in the fields of science and technology. To make this knowledge accessible to the public and highlight its importance, the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) launched a national initiative, "SVASTIK" (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge), in August 2021, inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. As part of this initiative, the biannual International Conference on Communication and Dissemination of Traditional Knowledge (CDTK) is organized.
The second International Conference on Communication and Dissemination of Traditional Knowledge (CDTK-2024) is jointly organized by CSIR-NIScPR and Gurugram University. This conference will take place on November 13-14, 2024, at Gurugram University, Haryana. The goal of the event is to bring together international experts and researchers from diverse fields, such as agriculture, architecture, ecology, environment, education, food, health sciences, mathematics, and metallurgy, who are working on traditional knowledge systems.
The conference will feature esteemed experts from various scientific fields who will discuss traditional knowledge systems and their potential applications in the modern world. The inaugural session will be graced by Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, President of South Asian University, New Delhi; Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Distinguished Professor, Pune University, Former Director General of CSIR, and Secretary, DSIR; Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Gurugram University; and Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director, CSIR-NIScPR.
