Jal Hi Amrit Yojana gets approval, investment of Rs 10 lakh crore for PMAY-U 2.0, know about these schemes

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, while addressing a press conference on the achievements of the new government in its first 100 days, said that significant steps have been taken to enhance ease of living and ensure a dignified life for citizens. He stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of "Housing for All" has been further strengthened. The Union Cabinet approved an investment of ₹10 lakh crore for PMAY-U 2.0, aimed at addressing the housing needs of one crore families and improving their quality of life.

Approval of Transport Projects in the First 100 Days:

The Union Minister also emphasized that the government is working towards improving transport infrastructure in urban areas. He highlighted the approval of three major metro projects worth ₹31,000 crore in the first 100 days, including Bengaluru Metro Phase-3, Thane Internal Ring Road Metro Project, and the southward extension of Pune Metro Rail Project.

68 New Projects Worth ₹6,825 Crore Approved:

The first 100 days, 68 projects worth ₹6,825 crore and 41 additional projects costing ₹3,020 crore and ₹3,805 crore, respectively, will be completed in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. A total of 263 projects, with an overall cost of ₹9,352 crore, have been inaugurated and laid the foundation for during this period.

'Jal Hi Amrit' Scheme Receives Approval:

Shri Manohar Lal stressed the importance of water resources and noted that the government is focusing on water recycling and reuse in both rural and urban areas. He announced that the 'Jal Hi Amrit' scheme has been approved in the first 100 days. This initiative aims to encourage states and Union Territories to efficiently manage used water treatment plants (UWTPs/STPs) and produce high-quality treated water for reuse.

Swachh Bharat Mission Campaign 2024: Speaking about the Swachh Bharat Mission and Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign, the Union Minister shared that 7.5 lakh Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) have been registered on the official portal, with around 86% of these units already cleaned.
