Today, Sunday, June 9, Delhi will experience clear skies and strong winds during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 43°C, with a minimum of around 27°C.
According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi will continue to face intense heat this week. The maximum temperature is forecasted to range between 43°C and 45°C, while the minimum will vary from 27°C to 31°C. The relentless heatwave shows no signs of abating, prompting the department to issue a heatwave alert for Delhi from June 10 to 13. Strong surface winds are also expected during this period, exacerbating the sweltering conditions.
Several northern states are still grappling with severe heat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that on June 9, parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha will experience heatwave conditions. Residents in these regions are advised to take precautions and stay hydrated to cope with the extreme temperatures.
The monsoon has advanced to most parts of the country, providing some relief from the heatwave. Favourable conditions for the southwest monsoon's progress are expected over the central Arabian Sea, parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, southern Chhattisgarh, southern Odisha, and the northwestern Bay of Bengal over the next two days. This advancement is likely to bring temporary respite from the severe heat, offering cooler temperatures and much-needed relief to the affected regions.
Stay tuned for further updates on the weather conditions across the country as the monsoon continues its advance, bringing hope for more consistent relief from the heatwave.
