Karnataka announces approval of 4,76,556 additional houses, Rs 97 crore released under watershed scheme

Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers' Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is currently on a two-day visit to Karnataka. During his visit, he held a review meeting with the state's Agriculture, Rural Development, and Revenue Ministers in Bengaluru. The meeting focused on agricultural initiatives, rural development programs, revenue-related activities, and the implementation of central government schemes in Karnataka.

The meeting, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized that India is a federal democracy, and the primary goal is to provide full support to the state government under central schemes, ensuring that the development of Karnataka is never hindered.

Release of ₹97 Crore under the Watershed Scheme:

The Union Minister urged the Karnataka government to promptly utilize the funds already allocated and assured them of continuous support from the central government. He announced the release of an additional ₹97 crore under the Watershed Scheme, following a request from the state's Revenue Minister. The additional funds for the Mechanization Scheme were also approved. Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare will address staffing needs under the ATMA Scheme.

Prime Minister Vision for a Developed India by 2047:

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan reiterated the government's vision under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership to build a developed India by 2047. He assured that the central government will make every effort to accelerate the progress of Karnataka and urged the state government to utilize the funds in a timely manner and submit utilization certificates to ensure continued support from the center.

Approval of 4,76,556 Additional Houses: Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan also reaffirmed Prime Minister Modi's commitment to providing every poor family with a permanent home. He shared that after the third term of the Prime Minister, the central government approved the construction of 2,26,175 houses for Karnataka in September, with funds already disbursed. The target has now been increased to 4,76,556 additional houses, bringing the total target for this financial year to 7,02,731 houses.
