Minister of Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development, Shri Edal Singh Kanshana, stated that the Kisan Kalyan Mission aims to increase farmers' income. This mission will serve as a key initiative to make agriculture a profitable venture. The Madhya Pradesh Natural Agriculture Development Board has been established to promote natural farming and encourage farmers. A registration portal has also been launched for farmers interested in natural farming, and 72,967 farmers have registered so far.
PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras will be set up in every panchayat across the state. Under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana, more than 81 lakh farmers received financial assistance of over ₹4,000 crore last year.
Under this scheme, farmers are being provided assistance at the rate of ₹1,000 per quintal, with a maximum support of ₹3,900 per hectare.
A provision of ₹600 crore has been made for short-term crop loans at zero percent interest. Additionally, farmers were given a bonus of ₹125 per quintal on wheat purchased at the minimum support price (MSP). For the first time, the Madhya Pradesh government set an MSP of ₹4,892 per quintal for soybean, procuring over 2 lakh metric tonnes and disbursing payments of more than ₹3,000 crore to farmers.
Better Availability of Seeds & Fertilizers: In the Kharif 2024 season, over 1.23 lakh quintals of certified seeds were distributed. To ensure easy access to fertilizers, the number of distribution centers was increased.
Promoting Solar Energy for Farmers' Self-Reliance: The Mukhyamantri Solar Pump Yojana has now been rebranded as Pradhan Mantri Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana. Under this scheme, 1.25 lakh farmers with temporary electricity connections will be provided solar-powered pumps. Over the next four years, farmers will be equipped with solar pumps to achieve self-reliance in electricity supply.
Encouraging Crop Diversification & Horticulture Expansion: Farmers will be encouraged to grow high-value crops, and crop diversification will be promoted. The target is to expand the irrigated area from 50 lakh hectares to 1 crore hectares in the next five years. Madhya Pradesh has more than 26 lakh hectares under horticultural crops. The state ranks first in India in the production of oranges, tomatoes, coriander, garlic, and spices. Additionally, 50 hi-tech nurseries are being developed, and an e-nursery portal has been launched for better management.
