A three-day district-level Krishi Vigyan Mela commenced at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Nakatra in Raisen district. The event was inaugurated by Minister of State for Health, Shri Narendra Shivaji Patel, and Sanchi MLA, Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary. Several stalls were set up by different government departments, progressive farmers, and agricultural equipment manufacturers, showcasing advanced farming techniques and innovations.

Increase in MSP and Expansion of Agricultural Fairs:

Addressing the event, Minister of State for Health, Shri Narendra Shivaji Patel emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the central government, along with the state government led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, is committed to the development of villages, the poor, and farmers.

He highlighted that the government is purchasing wheat at a Minimum Support Price (MSP). This year, the MSP for wheat has been set at ₹2,600 per quintal, which is expected to increase to ₹2,700 per quintal next year. Additionally, registered paddy farmers will receive an extra ₹4,000 per hectare as financial assistance. He further stated that Krishi Vigyan Melas are being organized to introduce farmers to modern agricultural techniques, enabling them to maximize profits while minimizing costs.

Government Promoting Advanced Agricultural Techniques:

Sanchi MLA Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary noted that earlier, irrigation facilities were limited, resulting in lower agricultural productivity. However, since 2004, expansion in irrigation infrastructure has led to a significant increase in crop production and farmers' income. He emphasized that the government is actively encouraging farmers to adopt drone technology, high-yielding seeds, and organic farming. Furthermore, millet cultivation (Jowar, Bajra, Kodo, Kutki) is being promoted due to its health benefits.

Key Features of the Krishi Vigyan Mela:

District Panchayat CEO, Smt. Anju Pawan Bhadoria, stated that throughout the year, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) conduct training programs to educate farmers about advanced agricultural techniques. During the Krishi Vigyan Mela, various stalls showcased improved seed varieties, fertilizers, farming equipment, and government schemes. Farmers were encouraged to explore these stalls and integrate modern solutions into their farming practices. Additionally, rural women associated with self-help groups are actively adopting advanced farming techniques. The district also boasts seven "Drone Didis", who are leveraging modern agricultural technology to enhance productivity.

Objectives and Initiatives of the Three-Day Mela:

Agriculture Officer, Shri Dushyant Dhakad, provided insights into the key initiatives behind this event. The Krishi Vigyan Mela is being organized under schemes such as:

  1. Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension (ATMA)
  2. One District One Product Training & Value Addition Scheme
  3. National Agriculture Development Scheme
  4. Madhya Pradesh State Millet Mission

Government departments, including Agriculture, Panchayat, Horticulture, Forest, Water Resources, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and MP Agro, along with private sector companies, set up exhibitions to provide valuable information on advanced farming techniques.

Inauguration of the Agricultural Exhibition: The Agricultural Exhibition at the event was formally inaugurated by Minister Shri Narendra Shivaji Patel and MLA Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary. They visited the stalls to gain insights into high-yielding seeds, fertilizers, and modern farming equipment. The leaders also interacted with progressive farmers, discussing their farming methods and experiences.
