The Ladli Behna Yojana, launched by the Madhya Pradesh government, has gained immense popularity among women. Under this scheme, eligible women receive monthly financial assistance. So far, 22 installments have been credited, and beneficiaries are now waiting for the 23rd installment.
However, a major update has emerged — nearly 3.19 lakh women have been removed from the list of beneficiaries, meaning they will not receive the next installment.
As per media reports, the names of 15,748 women were removed because they have passed away. Additionally, about 3.04 lakh women have crossed the age of 60, which is the upper age limit to receive benefits under this scheme.
According to the rules, only women between 21 and 60 years of age are eligible. Once a woman turns 60, her name is automatically removed from the portal. Due to this rule, fewer women will receive the 23rd installment compared to earlier ones.
The Ladli Behna Yojana installment is usually deposited on the 10th of every month. In the past, it has been released earlier during festivals, but this time, even during the Navratri festival, it has not been credited. Therefore, it is expected that the 23rd installment will be released on 10th April 2025.
During a recent assembly session, Congress MLA Pratap Grewal asked if the government would reopen registrations and when the promised amount of ₹3,000 per month would be implemented.
In response, Women and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria stated that there is no plan to add new beneficiaries or increase the amount at present. However, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has spoken about increasing the benefit amount on several occasions, but no official announcement has been made yet.
