Madhya Pradesh electricity consumers to receive subsidy of ₹9300 crore

Under the instructions of the Energy Department, Madhya Pradesh Western Region Power Distribution Company is providing regular subsidy benefits to each eligible electricity consumer. During the current financial year, an average of 4.8 million consumers is receiving subsidies. By the end of March, a total subsidy of over ₹9300 crore will be provided, out of which over ₹7000 crore has already been distributed.

Millions of Consumers Benefiting from Subsidies:

Ms. Rajni Singh, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Western Region Power Distribution Company, stated that in accordance with the orders of Energy Minister Mr. Pradyumn Singh Tomar, every eligible consumer is being granted subsidy benefits. The company is providing subsidy benefits to the highest number of consumers in Indore district, with 650,000 consumers benefiting. After that, districts such as Ujjain, Dhar, Dewas, Khargone, and Ratlam are also receiving subsidies based on eligibility. Regular subsidy benefits are being distributed in other districts as well.

Subsidy Benefits to 4.8 Million Consumers in MP:

Ms. Rajni Singh further explained that, on average, 4.8 million consumers in the company's area are receiving subsidy benefits every month. She also mentioned that under the Atal Grih Jyoti Scheme, a subsidy provision of over ₹1815 crore has been made for an average of 3.4 million consumers. Similarly, nearly 500,000 consumers from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are being provided free electricity for agricultural work, with a subsidy provision of ₹2580 crore for this fiscal year.

Subsidy Benefits under Atal Kisan Jyoti Scheme:

Additionally, under the Atal Kisan Jyoti Scheme, nearly 1 million farmers are receiving a subsidy of ₹4587 crore, while farmers with motors above 10 HP are getting ₹148 crore in subsidies. A subsidy of ₹149 crore has been provided for 67 irrigation schemes connected to high-pressure connections.

Relief for Common People in Electricity Bills: Ms. Rajni Singh also mentioned that 4762 power loom operators are receiving ₹25 crore in subsidies, and 1400 connections for street lighting for Gram Panchayats and Municipalities are being provided with a subsidy of ₹2.5 crore. She emphasized that the government’s goal is to simplify the lives of common people, reduce the burden of electricity bills, and provide financial assistance to those in need.
