Madhya Pradesh is experiencing a continuous rise in both daytime and nighttime temperatures. According to the Meteorological Department, clear skies and intense sunlight are making the days hotter. In several cities, the temperature has already crossed 39°C.
Holi, the festival of colours, will be celebrated across India on Friday, March 14. In Madhya Pradesh, major cities like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Rewa are expected to have clear skies and hot weather.
This week, nighttime temperatures in Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram divisions are expected to be 2-3°C above normal. Meanwhile, due to a cyclonic circulation over Gujarat, cities like Bhopal, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Gwalior, and Chambal will experience nighttime temperatures around 15-17°C.
Maximum temperatures in Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal, and Sagar divisions will be higher than usual. In Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Shahdol, and Jabalpur, it is expected to range between 31-35°C. There is no forecast for rain, although parts of western and southern Madhya Pradesh may witness cloudy conditions.
Khajuraho and Ujjain Among the Hottest Cities:
Khajuraho recorded a temperature of 39.4°C, followed by Narmadapuram at 39.1°C and Ratlam-Mandla at 39°C. Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur also saw temperatures rising above 37°C. Ujjain, known as the city of Mahakal, emerged as one of the hottest places with a recorded temperature of 38°C.
Rising Nighttime Heat, Temperature Expected to Climb Further After Holi:
Night temperatures are also on the rise. In Dhar, the minimum temperature reached 23.2°C, while cities like Bhopal, Indore, Khandwa, Khargone, and Rewa recorded nighttime temperatures above 20°C. Meteorologists predict that temperatures will continue to rise even further after Holi.
