Madhya Pradesh is making remarkable strides in the solar energy sector, establishing a unique identity in renewable energy. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is becoming the first choice for industrialists seeking to set up solar projects. Industry leaders showed interest in investing in solar projects at the 4th Global Renewable Energy Meet held in Gandhinagar. With ongoing solar projects, Madhya Pradesh is moving towards the vision of becoming the "Lungs of Incredible India."

MP and UP to Jointly Generate 8,000 MW of Solar Energy

The government is continuously working to promote renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh. The world’s largest floating solar project is under development in Omkareshwar, while the Rewa Solar Project, spread over 1,590 hectares, is among the largest single-site solar plants globally. A new joint venture between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh has been approved to generate 8,000 MW of solar energy. Solar projects will be set up in Shivpuri, Morena, Sagar, and Dhar, and the electricity generated will be used for irrigation in both states.

Massive Growth in Solar Energy Production in Madhya Pradesh

Currently, Madhya Pradesh generates 7,000 MW of solar energy, with renewable energy now accounting for 21% of the state’s total energy capacity. In 2012, the solar energy capacity was only 500 MW. In just 12 years, the state has seen a 14% growth in solar energy. The state government is working towards achieving its target of 20,000 MW by 2030.

Investment of ₹11,000 Crore in Global Renewable Energy Meet

At the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor Summit held in Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had one-on-one discussions with industry leaders. Avada Group proposed an investment of ₹5,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh, while Renew Power expressed interest in investing ₹6,000 crore. Several other companies, including Wind Power Association, Hero Future Energies, Torrent Power, Shakti Pumps, Singapore’s Sembcorp, Vari Energies, Serentica, Shell Group, Suzlon, Welspun, Vena Energy, Blue Leaf Borosil Group, and Statecroft, also showed interest in investing in the state’s renewable energy sector. Madhya Pradesh is cementing its place as a hub for renewable energy investments, attracting global attention and paving the way for a sustainable future.
