Madhya Pradesh is making significant efforts to ensure consistent and uninterrupted power supply for all electricity consumers. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state is advancing with ample power availability. Currently, the state has achieved a record power capacity of 23,788 MW. Energy Minister Mr. Pradyumn Singh Tomar revealed that from December 2023 to November 2024, a total of 10,136 crore units of electricity were supplied, marking a 1.67% increase compared to the previous year.
On December 20, 2024, Madhya Pradesh successfully achieved its highest-ever power supply of 18,913 MW in a single day. The Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company has adopted drone technology for monitoring power lines and remote operations of extra high voltage (EHV) substations.
For the financial year 2024-25, the state government has allocated ₹24,420 crore in subsidies to power companies. These subsidies will be provided under the Atal Griha Jyoti Yojana, Atal Krishi Jyoti Yojana, Tariff Subsidy, and Free Electricity Supply Scheme. Over one crore domestic consumers are benefiting from the Atal Griha Jyoti Yojana, while 9.03 lakh agricultural consumers are availing benefits under the Free Electricity Supply Scheme.
Record Power Generation: 28,627 Million Units:
The Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company has set a new record by producing 28,627 million units of electricity during the financial year 2023-24, the highest thermal power generation in the company’s history. Thirteen thermal units achieved uninterrupted operations for over 100 days, with two units operating for more than 200 days.
Continuous Development of Power Infrastructure: The state has seen steady growth in power infrastructure. The length of 33 kV power lines has expanded to 61,162 km, compared to just 29,070 km in 2003. During the financial year 2023-24, an additional 3,165 km of 11 kV lines were added. Moreover, 14 new EHV substations were established, and 818 circuit kilometers of high-voltage lines were constructed.
Launch of Industry-Friendly Schemes: The state has introduced "Sugam Vidyut (Sahajta) Yojana-2024" and "Udyog Mitra Yojana-2024" to provide relief to residents of unauthorized colonies and industrial consumers. These schemes aim to ease the cost of power connections and simplify the payment of outstanding dues for consumers, ensuring seamless access to electricity.
Consistent Excellence in Complaint Resolution: The Energy Department has maintained the top position in the CM Helpline grievance resolution rankings. From June 2023 to August 2024, the department secured the first rank among 52 departments for its efficient resolution of complaints.
