Harnessing Solar Energy for Agricultural Growth In a significant move led by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, an important decision was taken during the cabinet meeting. Renaming the Chief Minister Solar Pump Scheme to Prime Minister Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana was approved. This decision marks a significant step towards encouraging farmers to utilize solar energy.
The primary objective of the Prime Minister Farmer Friend Solar Scheme is to empower the agricultural sector through solar energy. Under this scheme, farmers will be provided with solar agricultural pump connections. This initiative aims to enhance irrigation facilities by leveraging solar energy, thereby aiding farmers in agricultural production.
Ken-Betwa Link Project: Bridging Water Gaps
Another crucial decision made during the ministerial council meeting was the approval of ₹24,293.24 crores for the first and second phases of the Ken-Betwa Link Project.
Prime Minister Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana Benefits of the Project:
The Ken-Betwa Link Project will significantly benefit the regions of Bundelkhand, including Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Datia, and Betwa Basin. In these areas, covering approximately 6,57,364 hectares of drought-affected land, irrigation facilities will be provided.
Citizen Advantages: Improved Drinking Water Facilities Additionally, the project will cater to the drinking water needs of around 4.4 million people, thereby enhancing their economic and social conditions.
