https://www.khetivyapar.com/en/mandibhavMadhya Pradesh has emerged as the largest soybean-producing state in the country, contributing nearly half of India's total soybean output. This achievement is a result of the dedicated efforts of farmers and the effective measures taken by the state government to support agriculture. Soybean remains the most widely cultivated crop during the Kharif season, with its acreage and production witnessing consistent growth.

The Madhya Pradesh government has assured farmers that relief assistance will be provided in the event of crop damage caused by natural calamities. Amid changing weather conditions, the government has expressed its commitment to stand by farmers during any crisis. The state government also facilitates every possible avenue for farmers to sell their produce. For small farmers unable to participate in procurement and selling their produce independently, a decision regarding per-hectare assistance or bonus will be taken soon.

Growth in Soybean Acreage:

Compared to the previous year, soybean acreage in the state has increased by 2%. Currently, soybean cultivation covers over 6.6 million hectares in the state. By December 31, approximately 6.5 to 7 million metric tons of soybean procurement is expected to be completed. Madhya Pradesh has surpassed Maharashtra and Rajasthan to secure the top spot in soybean production.

Minimum Support Price for Farmers:

The Madhya Pradesh government has set a minimum support price (MSP) of ₹4,892 per quintal for soybean, ensuring economic empowerment for farmers. This initiative has been instrumental in boosting farmers' financial stability.

Leading Districts in Payment Distribution:

To date, around 200,000 farmers have received payments amounting to ₹1,957.1 crore for their produce. The state has achieved an average payment rate of 70.41%. Neemuch district has achieved 100% payment distribution, leading the state. Other districts, including Vidisha, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Agar Malwa, Shahdol, Anuppur, Jabalpur, Umaria, and Khargone, have also made significant progress, with over 75% of payments completed in each district.

Actions on Crop Damage: To address crop losses caused by hailstorms, frost, and other natural calamities, district-level officials have been instructed to take necessary actions to assist farmers. The government has also urged farmers and citizens to stay vigilant about weather conditions and adopt precautions to avoid any adverse impact.

Safety Measures for Farmers and Crops: The Chief Minister has appealed to farmers to take all necessary precautions for their crops and personal safety during adverse weather conditions. He emphasized that open tube wells in rural and urban areas should remain covered, as leaving them open is prohibited. Citizens are also encouraged to report any such instances to the nearest police station. Additionally, the Chief Minister advised all residents to safeguard themselves against unseasonal rains, cold, and other weather changes.
