The Madhya Pradesh government has taken significant steps to establish the state as a major center for drone manufacturing and technological innovation. In this regard, the state has approved the Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Utilization Policy-2025, aimed at attracting investments and facilitating the growth of drone technology. A drone data repository will soon be established in the state, inspired by the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti initiative. This centralized platform will store government drone data and imagery, enabling real-time monitoring and accelerating development activities.

Growing Utilization of Drone Technology:

Drones, pilotless modern devices, are revolutionizing various sectors such as agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure inspection, and security monitoring. These devices have the potential to collect data quickly, save costs, and provide more precise outcomes.

1. Application of Drones in Agriculture:

  1. Monitoring the health of crops, detecting diseases, and evaluating yield.
  2. Precision spraying of fertilizers and pesticides, reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact.

2. Role of Drones in Disaster Management:

  1. Using thermal imaging and high-resolution cameras to monitor disaster-affected areas.
  2. Assisting in faster rescue operations and formulating effective strategies.

3. Contribution to Infrastructure and Wildlife Protection:

  1. Inspecting bridges, buildings, and other structures, leading to better safety and maintenance.
  2. Monitoring wildlife behavior without interference, ensuring protection.

4. Establishment of Drone Schools: Under the new drone policy, drone schools will be set up to promote drone operation, technical training, and research. This initiative will help train students and professionals to meet the growing industry demand.

Expected Benefits of the Drone Policy:

  1. An estimated investment of ₹370 crores.
  2. Creation of 8,000 new jobs (2,200 direct and 6,600 indirect).
  3. Approximately 25-30 direct jobs for every ₹1 crore investment.

Financial Incentives and Subsidies:

  1. 40% capital subsidy on new investments (up to ₹30 crores).
  2. 25% reimbursement on lease rental for up to 3 years (maximum ₹5 lakhs per year).

Grant of up to ₹2 crores for R&D projects:

  1. ₹8,000 monthly stipend under the "Seekho Kamao Yojana" for internships up to 6 months.
  2. 50% Capex subsidy (up to ₹25 lakhs) for colleges/institutions offering drone technology courses.
  3. Assistance of ₹5 lakhs for domestic patents and ₹10 lakhs for international patents.
  4. Additional incentives for mega-scale units investing more than ₹50 crores.

Bright Future for the Drone Sector: With the help of digitization and government policies, the drone industry is witnessing rapid growth. The global drone market is expected to increase from $71 billion in 2022 to $144 billion by 2030. India’s drone market is projected to reach $13 billion by 2030. Madhya Pradesh is moving forward in establishing itself as a leader in drone manufacturing and innovation. This policy will play a crucial role in fostering technological development, creating jobs, and contributing to the state’s economic prosperity.
