The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has been steadily increasing. Consequently, the consumption of fruits, vegetables, and grains produced with these chemicals has led to various diseases and pest infestations. To counteract this, the government is promoting organic farming, which uses only natural fertilizers. These natural alternatives are cost-effective and more beneficial compared to chemical pesticides.

How to Make Pesticides from Neem:

  1. Collect neem leaves and dry them in the shade.
  2. Once fully dried, soak the leaves in sufficient water overnight.
  3. Spray the neem-infused water on the plants. This will protect the crops from pests.
  4. This solution can be used on various vegetable plants, such as brinjal, to protect them from stem borer insects.

Application Method:

  1. Mix 1 liter of neem extract in approximately 14 liters of clean water.
  2. Spray this mixture on the plants in the morning.
  3. It effectively protects against pests, mosquitoes, and aphids that affect plant leaves.
  4. Ensure to spray this pesticide on crops that are at least one month old.

How to Make Pesticides from Cow Urine and Neem Leaves:

  1. Pour 15-20 liters of cow urine (preferably from indigenous cows) into a container and add 2.5 kg of crushed neem fruits or leaves.
  2. Grind 2.5 kg of Datura leaves and 2.5 kg of Arkamar leaves and mix them into the urine solution.
  3. Add the crushed leaves of pumpkin or squash plants to the mixture.
  4. Add about 700 grams of tobacco powder to the solution.
  5. Mix in 1 kg of red chili powder.
  6. Boil the mixture thoroughly, then cool and strain it. Your organic pesticide is now ready.

Benefits of Using Organic Pesticides:

  1. Organic pesticides are cheaper to produce compared to chemical ones.
  2. Made from plant-based products, organic pesticides decompose in the soil within a month, enhancing soil fertility.
  3. Using organic pesticides does not alter the natural properties of the crops.
  4. Organic pesticides can boost the yield of fruits and vegetables.
  5. The use of organic pesticides helps maintain environmental balance.
