The Mega Vegetable Expo is set to begin today at the Indo-Israel Center of Excellence for Vegetables in Karnal district, Haryana. This three-day expo will be held from March 21 to March 23 and will be inaugurated by Haryana's Agriculture Minister, Shyam Singh Rana. The closing ceremony will be graced by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
This vegetable fair presents an excellent opportunity for farmers to learn about new agricultural technologies, water management, organic farming, greenhouse techniques, and modern agricultural machinery. This year, more than 200 stalls will be set up, where various companies will showcase advanced farming equipment.
One of the biggest attractions of the expo is the lucky draw, where one mini tractor, one power weeder, and ten agricultural tools will be given away for free every day. Farmers will receive a free entry slip at the fair entrance to participate in the lucky draw. However, a key condition is that if the selected farmer is not present at the time of the draw, their slip will be skipped, and the prize will go to the next winner. The approximate price of a mini tractor is ₹4 lakh, while a power weeder costs around ₹1.25 lakh. There is no fee for participating in the lucky draw.
This year, the expo will focus on vegetable production, potato farming, and beekeeping. Farmers will also receive information about improved seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and advanced farming techniques. Additionally, more than 100 progressive farmers excelling in horticulture, vegetable production, potato farming, and beekeeping will be honored during the event.
Expert Guidance at the Mega Expo: Experts from Maharana Pratap Horticultural University and other agricultural institutions will conduct special workshops for farmers. These workshops will cover topics such as water management, organic farming, greenhouse technology, drip irrigation, pest control, and government subsidy schemes to help farmers maximize their benefits.
Cultural Programs and Entertainment: The expo will also feature Haryanvi folk music, dance performances, magic shows, and other cultural programs to entertain farmers and their families. Additionally, special food arrangements will be made for attendees.
