The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, emphasized aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to promote millet production in the state. He directed the formation of a committee comprising agricultural experts and departmental officials to draft a comprehensive action plan. This committee will also include farmer representatives as mandatory members.
The Madhya Pradesh government stated that millet cultivation would reduce farming costs and increase farmers’ income. This initiative aims to enhance the socio-economic status of farmers while establishing agriculture as a profitable enterprise.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to encourage farmers to boost the production of oilseeds and pulses. He instructed the provision of guidance on advanced agricultural techniques, improved seeds, appropriate fertilizers, and pesticides.
During the meeting, it was revealed that paddy cultivation in the state covers 36.33 lakh hectares, with 7.76 lakh farmers registered for procurement. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, and other relevant officials.
