According to the current data released by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall in India has been higher than or at least equal to the average monsoon rainfall of previous years. As per the released figures, from 1st June to 9th July, a rainfall record of 239.9 mm has been recorded from 1971 to 2020. This figure is slightly higher than or comparable to the average rainfall data of the past 20 years. This rainfall is beneficial for farmers in the northern, eastern, and western regions of India, as well as in the central region, particularly for the cultivation of the Rabi crop, such as rice.
