The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a monsoon alert, forecasting heavy rainfall in various regions. Here are the key areas under alert:
Light to moderate rainfall is predicted over the next seven days, with isolated heavy rain expected between May 23rd and 25th.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe: Very heavy rainfall is expected in some areas on May 23rd. Additional heavy rainfall is likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on May 24th, and in Kerala on May 24th and 25th.
Coastal and South Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep: Heavy rainfall is expected in some areas on May 23rd.
West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand: Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph), is expected over the next seven days.
May 25th and 26th: Moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers is expected in North and South 24 Parganas and East Medinipur districts of West Bengal, and in Balasore district of Odisha.
Northeast India: Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next five days. Heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam weather, and Meghalaya on May 26th.
Rainfall was recorded in various places across Bihar, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Central Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and South Interior Karnataka.
