The weather patterns across India are beginning to shift as the monsoon season progresses. By mid-June, most states have welcomed the monsoon, though northern India continues to grapple with heatwaves. The southern states, including Kerala and Tamil Nadu, are experiencing heavy rainfall, and monsoon rains have also started in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Eastern India is expected to see continuous heavy rainfall as well. Here’s an update on the regions where the monsoon has arrived and when it will reach other areas.
Monsoon clouds have begun to shower relief across Maharashtra, with Mumbai experiencing its first monsoon rains two days ago. Parts of Madhya Pradesh are also seeing monsoon activity. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will enter Gujarat today. Southern Gujarat, including Navsari and Valsad, has already started receiving rains. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy rainfall across Gujarat in the next five days. Usually, the monsoon arrives in Gujarat by June 20, but this year it has arrived earlier than expected.
Some regions in the country are yet to experience the monsoon. Full monsoon conditions are expected to establish in Gujarat soon weather. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are likely to see monsoon rains shortly. In Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the monsoon is predicted to arrive after June 25.
