In this series, the Madhya Pradesh government has made a decision that will be advantageous for farmers. With the onset of summer, the harvesting of Rabi crops has begun, and farmers have started taking their produce to the market. At this time, the central government is procuring wheat throughout the country. On the other hand, the Madhya Pradesh government has taken the decision to procure moong dal (green gram) at Minimum Support Price (MSP). This will provide significant benefits to the farmers.
Benefits for Farmers: For farmers engaged in moong dal cultivation in Madhya Pradesh, some important news has emerged. The state government is set to start government procurement of moong dal at MSP. The state government has begun preparations for this initiative. Farmers who wish to sell their moong dal at MSP must register on the procurement portal. Previously, moong dal was procured at ₹4,000 per quintal, but now, the state government has increased the MSP to ₹7,275 per quintal. This results in a profit of ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 per quintal for the farmers. This season, farmers will also benefit from this decision. The proposal to procure moong dal at MSP has been approved in the cabinet.
Farmers' Income will Increase: The state government is striving to increase the income of farmers. It aims to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their crops. Like the previous year, this year too, the state government is prepared to procure summer moong dal at the Minimum Support Price. Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel stated that the state government is furthering the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double farmers' income. This decision is also taken in the same direction. The Agriculture Minister noted that for the past three years, the state government has been procuring summer moong dal at MSP. In the year 2022, the government had set the MSP for moong dal at ₹7,275 per quintal.
