Farmers cultivating moong and urad during the summer season have received some good news. To ensure fair prices for their crops, the Madhya Pradesh government has introduced a procurement scheme at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Under this scheme, the government will purchase moong and urad from farmers at MSP rates. For this purpose, farmers must register online. They can do so through M.P. Online Lok Seva Kendra or cyber cafes by June 5.
Each year, the central government announces MSP rates for Rabi and Kharif crops. Last year, the MSP for moong was set at ₹8,558 per quintal and for urad at ₹6,950 per quintal for the Kharif season. For the marketing year 2024-25, government agencies will procure moong and urad during the summer season. Sharecroppers and tenant farmers can register at centers operated by cooperative societies and cooperative marketing institutions. Farmers need to bring their Aadhaar-linked mobile number, Aadhaar-related documents, and a copy of the tenancy agreement for registration.
Based on market assessments, the central government may resume wheat sales in the open market next month. Officials from the Food Ministry stated that the government is closely monitoring wheat market prices. The estimated procurement of around 24 million tons of wheat for the 2024-25 marketing year is deemed sufficient for bulk sales. If wheat prices rise in the coming months, the government may sell wheat in the open market. Earlier, the Food Ministry estimated a procurement of approximately 30-31 million tons of wheat for the current season.
Online registration for the procurement of summer moong and urad at MSP in Madhya Pradesh for the marketing year 2024-25 started on May 20 and will continue until June 5, 2024. Farmers can register on the M.P. Online portal. The Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department of Madhya Pradesh has issued detailed circulars regarding registration on the wheat e-procurement portal. Farmers must verify their Aadhaar number using an OTP received on their linked mobile number or through a biometric device before registration. During registration, farmers need to provide their bank account number and IFSC code. The registration will be completed only if the name in the land records matches the name on the Aadhaar card.
For registration, the Agriculture Department requires farmers to link their bank account and mobile number with their Aadhaar card. Farmers must select a slot for selling their crops at the procurement price. Farmers in the state can register for free through the M.P. Kisan App at facility centers established in Gram Panchayat offices, Janpad Panchayat offices, Tehsil offices, cooperative societies, and cooperative marketing institutions. Additionally, they can register by paying a fee of ₹50 at M.P. Online kiosks, Common Service Centers (CSCs), Lok Seva Kendras, and private cyber cafes.
