In India, mustard is primarily cultivated during the Rabi season, and its seeds are widely used for oil production, spices, and various industrial products. To ensure fair pricing for their produce, farmers need to keep track of the market prices. Today, October 26, 2024, we present the latest mustard prices, arrivals, and other essential aspects from various markets in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Satna Market : In Satna, mustard prices remained stable today. A total arrival of 1 ton was recorded, with minimum, maximum, and average (model) prices being ₹5,500 per quintal. This price is below the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹5,650, indicating relatively low demand for mustard in the Satna market.
Bassi Market : In Bassi, 8.5 tons of various mustard varieties arrived today. The minimum price was ₹5,110 per quintal, while the maximum price reached ₹6,251 per quintal, with an average (model) price of ₹5,680 per quintal.
Goluvala Market : In Goluvala, only 0.1 tons of mustard arrived. Prices ranged from a minimum of ₹5,250 to a maximum of ₹5,827 per quintal, with an average (model) price of ₹5,690 per quintal. Despite the low arrival, the average price here was similar to Bassi’s.
The arrivals in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan play a significant role in determining prices. Satna saw an arrival of 1 ton, while Rajasthan's Bassi and Goluvala markets saw arrivals of 8.5 tons and 0.1 ton, respectively. Markets with higher arrivals tend to have more stable prices, while prices in low-arrival markets are generally higher.
Conclusion: Today’s mustard prices in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan remained relatively stable; however, the sale of mustard below the MSP continues to be a challenge for farmers. The demand in Rajasthan markets appears stronger, leading to higher prices, while prices in Madhya Pradesh are comparatively lower.
