Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister Shri Govind Singh Rajput has directed departmental officers to ensure the immediate transportation and safe storage of wheat procured so far in the Rabi marketing season of 2025-26, in view of the anticipated unseasonal rains in the coming days. He emphasized that it should be ensured that no wheat at any procurement center is exposed to rain and gets wet.
Minister Shri Rajput provided an update stating that a total of 798,461 metric tons of wheat has been procured so far. Of this, 696,625 metric tons of wheat has already been transported and stored. The remaining 101,836 metric tons should be transported and stored promptly.
The Minister has instructed all district collectors to ensure the immediate transportation of wheat available at procurement centers and its safe storage in warehouses. If necessary, other transporters' trucks should also be engaged for this work. Additionally, wheat stored in the open at warehouse-level procurement centers should be transferred to warehouses through committees. The wheat at procurement centers should be stacked on solid platforms, covered with tarpaulins to protect it from the weather.
Deployment of Nodal Officers: Minister Shri Rajput clarified that nodal officers appointed at each procurement center should ensure their presence and regularly monitor all necessary arrangements related to storage, to avoid any issues.
