Union minister Shivraj singh chouhan engages with farmers to address agricultural issues and enhance crop insurance

In a significant dialogue aimed at addressing the concerns of the agricultural community, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, met with representatives from various farmers' organizations in New Delhi today. The meeting was attended by Rampal Singh, the leader of the Kisan Mahapanchayat, along with numerous farmer representatives hailing from different states. 

Commitment to Farmer Welfare:

During the discussions, Shri Chouhan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with the farmers. He highlighted the importance of addressing both state and central government-related issues raised by the farmer representatives, stating, "We will consider them sincerely and seriously." The Minister emphasized his commitment to advancing the interests of farmers and improving the overall conditions in the agricultural sector.

Prime Minister’s Farmer-Friendly Approach:

Shri Chouhan emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's supportive stance towards farmers has played a vital role in recognizing and addressing the difficulties encountered by the agricultural community. He stressed the importance of engaging in discussions with farmers to effectively resolve their issues. "Farmers have raised several important issues, and under the Prime Minister's guidance, a number of decisions have been made to support their interests," he said.

Focus on State-Specific Needs:

Among the topics discussed were various aspects of the Krishi Vikas Yojana, which has seen recent modifications to better suit state-specific agricultural needs. Shri Chouhan assured that the government is working diligently on multiple fronts, including addressing farmers' concerns regarding the crop insurance scheme.

A Personal Dedication to Farmers:

Serving farmers is akin to worshipping God for me, said Shri Chouhan, expressing his dedication to their welfare. In response to media inquiries about crop insurance claims, he clarified that participation in the scheme should be voluntary for both loanee and non-loanee farmers, emphasizing the importance of choice in this matter.

Clarification on Crop Insurance: The discussions highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to engage with the farming community and implement measures that promote their interests, signaling a continued commitment to improving the agricultural landscape in the country.
