Under the Tribal Affairs Department’s scheme, a separate battalion is being planned for the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) residing in the state, specifically for the Bharia, Baiga, and Sahariya tribes. Through this scheme, interested tribal youth will be provided with the necessary training for recruitment into the police, army, and home guard services. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed the formation of a PVTG battalion to connect the youth of these vulnerable groups with employment and service opportunities. The Bharia, Baiga, and Sahariya tribes fall under the PVTG category.
The Tribal Affairs Department will provide training to youth from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for recruitment into the Navy, Army, Air Force, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, BSF, Police, Home Guard, and other private security agencies. A comprehensive action plan is being prepared to ensure maximum employment opportunities for the youth through this initiative.
To ensure the effective implementation of schemes for the development of PVTGs, a special agency operates under the leadership of a director-level officer in the Tribal Affairs Department. This agency monitors the execution of these schemes in 15 districts across the state. Additionally, at the state level, 11 authorities are actively working for the development of these tribal groups. Each authority is chaired by a member from the PVTG community, along with three non-governmental members.
