Madhya Pradesh's Cooperative Minister, Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang, announced that certified seeds produced by seed institutions will now be marketed under a new brand name with an attractive logo. This initiative aims to provide high-quality certified seeds to farmers. He issued these directives while chairing a meeting of the State Cooperative Seed Producers and Marketing Federation's Board of Directors at the Ministry on Tuesday.
Minister Sarang emphasized that certified seeds should be made available to local farmers through PACS, cooperative institutions, and private traders. He directed officials to engage marketing and technical experts, ensure quality control, and focus on packaging and branding. This initiative will benefit over 3.2 million farmer members by providing them with reliable certified seeds.
He also proposed integrating seed cooperatives with an innovation wing, preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for their development, implementing a rating system for seed cooperatives, and establishing a business model and Business Development Center.
Minister Sarang stated that the Seed Federation will develop a comprehensive strategy to supply farmers with high-quality, climate-resilient seeds. The use of superior seeds will enhance crop production capacity and increase farmers’ incomes.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Seed Federation will set up business development centers across the state to train farmers in seed production and modern agricultural techniques. Additionally, seed producer cooperatives will be given access to storage and grading facilities on lease. This will enable cooperative farmers to produce higher-quality crops and secure better market prices.
A Comprehensive Roadmap for the Seed Federation: To strengthen the Seed Federation and ensure the welfare of farmers, a detailed action plan will be prepared. The strategy will focus on improving seed production, making high-quality certified seeds available to farmers, and implementing an effective marketing approach.
