With the increase in the number of electric appliances, electricity bills are also on the rise. While many state governments provide subsidies based on consumption, electricity companies periodically raise their rates. In light of these challenges, solar energy has emerged as a beacon of hope. The Indian government has taken an initiative to reduce electricity bills through the Prime Minister's Sury Ghar Scheme, offering subsidies ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹78,000 for installing solar panels in homes.

New PM Sury Ghar Scheme:

To reduce electricity bills, solar panels are being installed in homes. These panels generate electricity without polluting the environment. Under the PM Sury Ghar Scheme, consumers can install solar panels on their rooftops to harness solar power for their household electricity needs. The government aims to reduce electricity bills in 1 crore homes across India through this scheme. Initially, a subsidy of around ₹43,000 was provided for installing up to 3 kW solar panels, but it has now been increased to ₹78,000.

Subsidy Details under PM Sury Ghar Scheme:

The PM Sury Ghar Scheme offers free electricity through government subsidies. Currently, the central government provides a subsidy of ₹30,000 for a 1 kW solar system, and ₹78,000 for solar panels ranging from 3 kW to 10 kW.

How to Apply for PM Sury Ghar Scheme:

Solar panels are known for generating electricity in an environmentally friendly manner, reducing the carbon footprint. Investing in solar panels is considered a good investment, especially with the government subsidy, making it more affordable for low-budget households.

Cost of Solar Panels and Equipment: With the growing demand for rooftop solar systems, the number of manufacturers of solar panels, inverters, and other equipment is also increasing. The cost of solar panels and equipment varies based on their quality. Generally, the installation of a 1 kW capacity system costs between ₹45,000 to ₹70,000. The consumer must pay the fixed amount at the time of installation, and the subsidy amount is later transferred to the consumer’s bank account.
