For the Rabi season, the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) has recommended the advanced wheat variety HD3410 for farmers in irrigated regions. This variety is fast-growing, high-yielding, and capable of combating multiple diseases.
According to IARI, Wheat HD3410 matures within just 130–135 days, compared to the 145–155 days required for traditional varieties. It delivers a yield of 65–70 quintals per hectare, significantly higher than other varieties. Additionally, this variety boasts a protein content of 12.6%, enhancing its nutritional value and driving high market demand.
Plant Height and Key Features: The plants of Wheat HD3410 are relatively short, growing to a height of 100–105 cm, making them more resistant to wind and adverse weather conditions. The variety produces premium-quality wheat, suitable for making flour, bread, and biscuits.
Wheat HD3410 is ideal for irrigated areas in states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi. While it requires less water overall, timely irrigation is crucial to avoid yield loss. Farmers with access to canals, tube wells, or other reliable water sources can maximize their production and profitability with this variety.
IARI developed and launched this advanced wheat variety in February 2023, with subsequent approval from the central government for sowing. Agricultural scientists have highlighted Wheat HD3410 as a highly profitable and sustainable option, particularly for early sowing.
Conclusion: Rich in nutrients and fast-growing Wheat HD3410 is an excellent choice for farmers. It offers not only higher yields in less time but also commands a premium in the market due to its high protein content and superior quality. By adopting this advanced variety, farmers can boost their income while contributing to sustainable farming practices.
