Notice Issued to Traders for Buying Apples at Box Rate, Farmers Also Advised to Avoid Selling In Himachal Pradesh, the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee has issued notices to traders who are buying apples and pears based on box rates rather than per kilogram. This information was provided by the state's Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi.
An official statement mentioned that two offenders have been issued notices for violating the provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Agriculture and Horticulture Produce Marketing (Development and Regulation) Act, 2005. The Minister explained that one of the offenders was trading in the market yard, Parala, without a license from the agriculture department, while another offender in the market yard, Rohru, was not following government guidelines for the sale and purchase of fruits with respect to weighing.
On July 22, the Minister clarified that apples would be sold and purchased based on weight (in kilograms) and not by boxes. He also warned that habitual offenders, including commission agents, who violate the standards, will face strict action, including license cancellations."
