Rice is one of the primary crops in the country, cultivated during the Kharif season, which coincides with the monsoon. As farmers are currently planting rice for the Kharif season, it is crucial to treat the soil beforehand to protect the crop from pests and termites.

Pre-Planting Soil Preparation:

Farmers undertake rice planting on a large scale. To ensure a good yield, it is essential to remove any pests and weeds from the soil before planting. Continuous irrigation is necessary for rice crops as they require substantial water. Additionally, treating the soil before planting helps in maintaining the quality and yield of the crop.

Enhancing Soil Fertility:

Before planting rice, farmers should prevent pest and disease infestations by incorporating approximately 5 kilograms of Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae per hectare into well-decomposed manure during plowing. The field should then be thoroughly plowed and leveled. Following this, the field should be flooded with water before transplanting the rice seedlings.

Rice Cultivation Process: Level and fertile land is ideal for rice cultivation. Given the high water requirements of rice, seedlings should first be sown in a nursery. Transplantation of these seedlings is done 25 to 30 days after sowing. Regular irrigation, weed control, and balanced fertilizer use are essential. Farmers can use both organic and chemical methods to protect the crop from pests and diseases. Harvesting typically occurs 100 to 130 days after transplanting, followed by threshing and drying of the grains. To preserve the rice from moisture and pests, it should be stored in a dry and clean place.
