Estimated Procurement of 44 Lakh Metric Tons of Paddy This Year, MSP Procurement Extended Until January 23

The Madhya Pradesh government reviewed the ongoing paddy procurement process and directed officials to ensure timely payment for procured paddy to farmers. The review meeting was held at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence.

Over ₹5,000 Crore Paid to 5.5 Lakh Farmers:

During the meeting, it was revealed that over 5.5 lakh farmers have sold 36 lakh metric tons of paddy at various procurement centers across the state under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme. The total paddy procurement for this year is estimated to reach 44 lakh metric tons. The procurement process will continue until January 23, 2025. So far, more than ₹5,000 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of farmers.

Preparations Underway for Makar Sankranti Programs:

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also reviewed preparations for the Makar Sankranti celebrations across the state. Scheduled between January 12 and 14, these events will feature the participation of "Ladli Behna" beneficiaries in various activities. The programs include distributing traditional sweets made of jaggery and sesame, along with gifts like bangles.

These celebrations, with the active participation of public representatives, will be integrated with activities under the Chief Minister’s Jan Kalyan Campaign. A state-level program will also be broadcast across the state. The preparations for all these events are nearing completion.
