According to government figures, at present the maximum production is taking place in Manipur. The vegetable made from the leaves of this fruit is also eaten with great relish. There are more than 500 varieties of passion fruit. Passion fruit is rich in nutrients, minerals and vitamins. It contains essential amounts of potassium, copper, fiber and many other vitamins. Its taste is sour but it is considered very beneficial for health. This fruit also helps in increasing digestion power, increasing immunity, reducing inflammation and controlling age.
According to experts, passion fruit grows well in the mountains. The special thing is that its crop does not require much water. Because of which it grows well in areas with less rainfall. Passion fruit grows best in temperatures ranging from 15 to 30 degrees. Sandy soil is considered best for its cultivation. The beginning of monsoon is considered the most suitable time for its sowing. After its sowing in July, flowers start appearing on its tree around the month of October, which start giving fruits by November-December.
