The survey process for the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) has commenced. Through this survey, the names of eligible families will be added to the permanent waiting list by March 31, 2025. The central government has approved the extension of this scheme for the next five years (FY 2024-25 to FY 2028-29). In this regard, the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, has initiated the Awas plus Survey 2024 to update the list of beneficiaries.
The survey will be conducted at the gram panchayat level by appointed secretaries or employment assistants. The Awas Plus 2.0 app, developed by the Ministry of Rural Development and NIC, will be used for this purpose. Beneficiaries can also apply independently using their mobile devices. The app link is available on the Awas Soft portal (https://pmayg.nic.in/infoapp.html).
Training has been provided to district, block, and gram panchayat-level officials and designated surveyors for conducting the survey. This process will be completed by March 31, 2025.
Objective of PMAY-Rural: Launched on April 1, 2016, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) aims to provide pucca houses with basic amenities to all eligible homeless families and those living in dilapidated or kutcha houses.
How to Apply: To avail of the benefits of this scheme, eligible families can contact the surveyor appointed in their gram panchayat or apply independently using the Awas Plus 2.0 app. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) is a significant government initiative aimed at providing safe and convenient housing for every rural family. Beneficiaries are advised to complete the application process within the stipulated time.
